Music

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Electronica

In electronic music, everything is allowed - as long as it works. In my improvised live sets, I combine organic sounds from analogue synthesizers and drum machines with trumpet, saxophone or trombone. No computer, no pre-produced tracks - the focus is on the creative moment and the musical dialogue with myself and the listeners. Each set is unique.

Festival Shows: Fusion Festival, SEMF, Plötzlich am Meer, Katzensprung, Sound of the Forest, Zugvögelfestival etc.

Club Shows:

Sisyphos, KELLER, Arena Club, Salon zur wilden Renate, Kosmonaut, Elipamanoke, Else, Disko Zwei, Milla, Panopticum etc.

Arts and culture festivals:

Cosmic Playgrounds, Bauhaus Dessau, Die Sünde, etc.

JAZZ

For me, jazz means surrendering to the potential of the moment and trusting one's organs and intuition. Jazz is the attempt to support each other, to respond to each other and to let the best of each other come out. Jazz is the shared risk of not knowing what might happen, but still believing that it can be good. I studied jazz trumpet, which for me primarily meant having time to try out and exchange ideas with many curious musicians. I started in 2011 at the HfM Mannheim and finished my studies in 2015 at the Jazzcampus Basel of the Fhnw Nordschweiz.

Until today, the main thing that has remained is the search for my own sound. In jazz, too, I often work at the intersections between acoustic and electronic music. I am particularly attracted to playing wind and brass instruments with an organic, multi-layered, vocaltype and warm character.

POP

Pop - popular; what you know, or think you know. For me as part of a brass section, this is primarily a challenge to add liveliness without making the music sound complicated. In my opinion, pop means minimalism conceived in a big way - what is important, what can go, what is needed?

Pop should leave no questions unanswered - this requires a high degree of flexibility and a wide range of sounds and ideas.

Whether as a stage or studio musician.

Classic & Crossover

How can you bring tradition and innovation together? For me, a crossover production is like the core renovation of an old house with a strong character. What can be removed to make room for the new? Where are the load-bearing walls and how can they be supported? How can the strong elements be given a new shine?

As a composer, instrumentalist and musical director for electronic-acoustic cooperation projects, I worked with the junge norddeutsche philharmonie for several years in a row. In addition to a musical juxtaposition with intersections, "111 Musicians" (Arena Berlin), "Sacre auf E" (Funkhaus Berlin, Fuchsbaufestival Hannover, Mehr! Theater Hamburg), "In C" (Funkhaus Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg) and "Sacrelectro" (Funkhaus Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg) were realised. Within the framework of productions of the Bayerischer Rundfunk, events such as: Klassik meets electronic "Max Emmanuel Cencic und Julian Maier-Hauff", "Mozart goes Clubbing", the cellists of the BRSO meet Julian Maier-Hauff (Augsburger Mozartfest) and Sound Visions (cooperation project; Münchner Rundfunkorchester meets Julian Maier-Hauff).

Theater Music

Theater is the world of extremes - no room for half measures.

Any unintentional question mark could implode the intended atmosphere.

Finding purity in the infinite possibilities of art - strong images, tension, small details and exaggerated gestures go hand in hand. Strong contrasts, a playground, clear rules, a big mirror, a stretched moment, a leap in time - something different. Astonishment, the controlled loss of control, screaming silence, deafening emptiness.
